Hi Shim and welcome. Dave n I are getting our first reptile ever 2morrow. A Murray Darling Carpet Python hatchling. I for one can't wait. But now someone has told us that they can be very snappy sometimes! I'm not looking forward to getting bitten. I've got a very low pain threshold! LOL! Cheers Cheryl

*sighs* My list of what to get is growing ...(if I win lotto on the weekend I'll get one of each and be done with it, minus the taipan of course)
Congrats Cheryl!! Good Luck with you MD tomorrow, am sure he wont give you to many love bites

NOOO!!! Dunno what happened but to all those people who added my msn to their list could you try again:S I had weird messages come up to each and everyone one of you saying that Msn could not add to adress book at this time or soemthing like that .

Welcome Shimarah,in my opinion you can't go past a Cape York carpet or a Bredli for a first snake, both look awesome and have great tempraments....and reasonably priced!!!

I think all new comers to the hobby should tell us how much they want to spend on their first snake, that would make our recomendations a lot better and easier as we would then know their price range.:)

Yep hugsta good idea,as i'd just as easily recommend a bhp as a first snake also as they make great pets and especially if you want something different....they're no harder to keep than a carpet!!

:x my 6 foot costal taged me today, not for the first time, and it was nothing like a rat bite, so cheryl i don't think you have much to worry about, and just so you know, it was my fault he got me, for thinking he was asleep and putting my hand in to clean his hot rock, another lesson learnt....

cheers,
steve........

Sooo? Snake bites don't hurt as much as rat bites then? some of our rat bites really hurt Dave. Little buggas. I'm lucky I haven't copped a rat bite as yet? Maybe I've got a gentler touch than Dave? He gets really cranky with em, but I just smooth talk em. LOL!
