Hi. I've always wondered how people got their sand nice and smooth. My red desert sand comes in a moist bag. It hardens within a few days.

Just like what Briiiziii said yous a sifter comes out very soft and looks great as well :) all tho get a decent size sifter other wise u will be doing it for awhile lol.

If its good red sand it should fall apart when dry,not real good for burrows. When you put it in water the water should stay clear.

try sifting it with a strainer , zoomed made a metal scooper for that use

works for me

I agree with pike1 - there is good red sand and not so good red sand.
Some of the red "sand" I have bought in the past has been more like dirt - rock hard when it dried. Also stained everything. I got some real desert sand from a friend which is much better and cleaner but not so great for burrows.
I guess it depends on what you are buying.
