Well, it's been a while since I gave a rant about a show I've been to, so I figured I lift my game a little and tell you guys about The Offspring show's I've been to this week.
First show I saw them in Newcastle on Thurs. Was the first person to start lining up (that doesn't make me pathetic, it just illustrates what a dedicated fan I am) and got to talk to a lonely old woman who lived near by. Her son's running the festival that's being held at the Newy Ent. cent. soon..but uh,yeah back to the band. In an effort to fight the heat in the mosh I usually only wear the (cliche) tartan shirt/singlet top ensemble, but let me tell you, fishnets do nothing to keep out the cold when you're sitting out on the concrete beforehand. :x
The supports (Something Corporate-Californian band.Frontman plays a piano, cool.Sound like 'Thursday') (Bodyjar) were pretty good, got the crowd moving which was positive.
So finally The Offspring come on with 'Neocon' the into 'The Noose', then 'All I want'. Great start to the show, heaps and heaps of energy. <which they maintained throughout the set. Got to hear some good older songs 'Gotta Get Away' 'Self Esteem' 'Bad Habit' but alot of it was from their newer albums (which is to be expected, but I'd still much just ratherhear their old stuff). 'Gone Away' was awesome.
Because I got barrier I was able to schmooze with the crowd control guys and I ended up getting the setlist.Woo-Hoo!!!!!So..excited..almost..had..anurysm..It's now hanging behind glass on my wall.
Went and saw them again last night at the Horden in Sydney. Another excellent performance from my fav. band. Only one change in the songs, but eh, still totally great. For those who've been to a past show, there's no 'intermission' anymore, much to my disapointment. No more fat man in a pink elephant g-string..*sigh*
So anyways, both shows were bloody fantastic, two very memorable nights. The boys might be getting on, but they can still belt it out. Can't wait to do it all again!!
*Anyone else see them? What'd you think?
