There's no real difference in appearance between a pitbulll and an Amstaff except Amstaffs have been specifically bred for their tempraments.

Nice dog Ricko..i tried posting the link to some other pics but it didn't work..checkout the Our Boys and Our Girls sections in that link and there's some gorgeous looking ones in there..pups are cute as..

I want one...

thanks browns she is such a boistrous and playful dog they are just awesome you will enjoy them if you got one. yeah i saw those sections as well the parents look beautiful. and souly i must say i have a real big soft spot for danes as they are such gentle giants, like olives i guess maybe thats why i like the danes as well as olives are amongst my fav reptiles

I'd like to get D9 and do some land clearing but it has ramifications.

I was under the impression that a Pitbull and Amstaff are the same breed, just results of selective breeding.

Get a Dobermann !

top dogs, will look a bit weird now cos of the tail docking ban. :?

Jonny

weird??????
its called natural!!!!!!
i love rotties!!!!! and in the vets all the ones with tails seemed happier!
i love them!

nuthin2do,you are spot on.amstaffs and pitty's are the same breed from the same linaege.amstaffs are selective, conformation, temperment bred pittbulls.bred by an organisation who wanted to distance themselves and there dogs from the bad reputation of the pitty's.pittbulls weren't bred for conformation but for pitt fighting ability, thus they have slightly different appearence.i've owned three pittbulls and curs[crossbreeds].
in the right hands they are the most amazing animals.
without pittbulls there would be no such thing as an amstaff.

obee

Thats really interesting. Before Tara (mine and Ricks dog) I didnt think much of staffys or pit bulls or any of those dogs. Christ i though Bullies were pitbulls. But now, I see that IT IS the way you bring your dog up. There is just no anger in Tara whatsoever. She is just the most playful sooky little girl and I have never loved a dog more.

Ive been bought up with Labradors and Golden Retrievers, and they are still great. My mum has a 3 year old golden, who is just gorgeous. She will be having a litter in the next year so if anyone wants a pure bred pup with papers from special breeders, let me know! :)

The next dog I want (despite ricky's constent requests not to) is a labrador. Or a rottie. Rick wants the rotty, and I absolutely love the look of a rottie so I dont know. Ill just see what happens at the time. I bet rick will be showing me ALL these rottie pups to take my mind off the labs :)

rotties rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they give the best cuddles and so do the mountain dogs!

i love the golden retrievers there loyal, friendly, intelligent, and there not to big and not to small i also love the doberman, and rotties. i only like the staffys when there pups. i used to have a staffy cross pitbull he was friendly but when i was taking my blue heeler for a walk a dog came out from nowhere and attacked her my staffy cross pitbull only 8 weeks old came runing out from the yard and attacked the dog that was attacking our blue heeler. after that my dad made me get rid of him.

i have had both amstaf's and pitty's as browns and woma_n said its the way you bring them up, i know plenty of german shepherds that were nastier than our pitty but its the way it was bought up, i think it is sad some of the stories you hear of people trying to make there dogs guard dogs by doing certain things to them when there a puppy that affects them for there life. i love my puppy and i really dont care if she was a bitza a staf or a pitty she is great and have loved every minute she has been with us (except for pulling the washing off the line) anyone have any good ideas on how to stop that?

my dad had a rodenson ridge back that did that we had 2 whipets and a rodenson ridge back the whipets used to hang onto the clothes and the rodenson used to swing them around. we got them to stop doing by everytime you see them do it spary them with the hose or some water with lemon in it.

no great danes are!!!! at least ours come from the same country Sdaji!!

Oh, danes are native to Australia now are they? :)

German shepherds are as Australian as any other dog (Dingoes perhaps excepted)

this is a pic of my dog max he is a staffy cross boxer. he is friendly as wouldn't harm a fly. as said before it's the way you bring it up.

I don't think there's all that much natural about a rottie, with or without a docked tail! That much selective breeding is far more unnatural than chopping a tail. I agree though, docking is bad!

Sdaji......german shepards to come from germany mate......there's a few links above to have a look at. (not sure if you were joking lol)

Ricko,
to stop the dog ripping washing off the line, get and old pillow case, put some chili powder in the bottom, abt 1 cm thick and then hang it on the line. its better to sow the chilli powder but the choice is up to you, and after a few days he'll stop with the grabbing of washing on the line....

zoe asks should we bring our dog to your house???

My german shepheard bear RIP was a great guard dog i trained him for personal protection and full attack.
My friend works in the dog squad in wacol prison and he helped me learn to train with methods that did not make the dog unpredictable he would release on command and i could get him to obey me from hand signals accross a football oval.
IMO the secret to training a good gaurd dog is to make sure it is mature enough to handle the training as well as having a good temperament .
My gs was 7 years old when i had my first daughter and i could have her with him without any problems at all
I think with the pitbull a lot of the problems were that dogs that were friendly were turning on kids without warning
But like has been said before it is how you bring a dog up
Just my opinion
