Ok - maybe it's time for a bit of advice to newbies.
This site isn't like MSN chat - it's a serious herp site where people interested in herps can exchange ideas and learn from each other and have a bit of fun along the way.
One of the site rules (and I suggest everyone have a read of them sometime!
) is "No Flooding". That means don't get carried away and posts lots and lots of relatively meaningless posts. It only annoys people (as you've seen from this, and other threads).
Try to keep your posts relevant to the topic. Sure, they tend to drift off-topic from time to time, and no-one minds the occasional funny post (providing they are genuinely funny!) but conversations between a couple of members are better off done via email or PM's (Private Messages) so as not to clutter the forums with stuff that is not relevant to the majority of members.
We want
everyone to have a good time on this site, so we should try to bear that in mind and consider if our posts are going to annoy the majority of others on the site.
That said, we definitely want to encourage young newbies to become involved in this great hobby of ours, so a little tolerance from older members goes a long way. But it's a two-way street! Before newbies dive in and post all over the place, we suggest that you spend a bit of time browsing the site to get a feel for how it works and the general behaviour patterns of other users. You'll soon get the idea.
Have fun!
