ok i'll leave it for longer... but isnt 7 days tooooo long? since the seller told me its due for a feeding...i assume it needs to eat soon..

thank you

I have had hatchlings goes months with out food , dont panic , the selling said it should eat in a few days , I am sure he did not say feed it in a few days or it will die ......
There are some very good responses to your questions , listen and learn ;)

sorry for being such a ****..... its just i dont want my pet snake to die... (even though everyone tell me it will last for a long time without food)... the thought of leaving it alone for so long makes me feel like such a bad owner (but its not the case)....i suffer from panic attacks easy.

on a new note, thank you for having the patience.. i will take up ur advice.. its currently sitting in the corner with water and 2 hiding spots, heat matt, thermomitor, thermister ... and not touching it for a week..... though i did talk to simon and he said i should see if it would eat tomorrow.....<<<what do you think?

thank you

i think leave it! seriously, it wont eat when it stressed anyway... snakes can go awhile without food, and by awile i mean more than a couple of weeks...u really juust need to let him/her settle in to its new surroundings before u do anything with it. all u will do is stress it out. if u are worried about being a bad owner, listen to what ppl have told u on here and take their advice...u cant go wrong as they know what they are on about!!!:D
dont take this the wrong way, but perhaps u should of done a little bit more research into this before u made your puurchase...

just did the styrofoam under the box...

could someone let me know if i'd done the correct thing by putting the heating mat underneath 1/3 of the box and having styrofoam between the bottom of the box and the heating mat... is that correct???

on the instruction of the heating mat.. it said the mat has to have a gap between the bottom of the case and the mat which must be filled by either styrofoam or rubber so the hot air doesnt escape.....

doesnt make any sense..

picture below is what i'd done

smartest thing you have done so far read damn it!

yes... reading :)

just wanna ask

i have also bought a thermomiter that is suspending itself on the side wall right above the matt (but not touching) it currently reads 24.6 degrees, but my matt is addjusted at 31 degrees with a thermostat connected to it...

my question is... should i adjust the matt so that the themomitor reads 30-31 degrees (this may mean the matt would be at approximately 35+.. or leave it as it is?

thank you

Dont know about anyone else but i would`nt use styrofoam in between the heat and tub...

I know it melts at a certain temp and gives off a toxic odour. Not sure what that temp is though..??

Is your tub thermometer reaching around 28-30 degrees at the hot end with it set up as you have pictured...?

Not sure it would reach your desired temp without direct contact of the mat to the bottom of the tub...? Is it reaching temp...???

Personally i would have maybe a floor tile, then my heat mat, then my tub 1/3 on top of that...:D

got rid of the styro on the heating mat...

its now confortably napping under its hide on the warm side

Gday

IMO you should always have a piece of wood on top of your heat mat just a 16mm piece this will give you a much better heat control as the wood will hold the heat

Anyway this is what I do and It works very well and IMO much better than just putting it under the tub

Cheers Lewy

It needs to be closer to the keyboard in case it wants to start a thread about the location of it's click clack.

Rude

I think some of you are being a bit rude with your comments but hey that's just my opinion.

Have you ever thought that whilst the thread writers english may appear to be good that there actually might be a language (lost in trnaslation issue) here???? What one might concieve to be plain english may actually become lost on others.

Too many people being a bit too critical here. I think seksyjinke's only crime is not to have done more homework prior to purchasing a snake. Good books are available relatively cheaply and are vital in the knowledge chain.

APS is here for advice and support, seksyjinke is asking the right question's and wants to do the best thing, don't shoot her down.

lol, THIS is one of the reasons I DON'T post here! Too many peeps, not enough manners! This is and can be one of the best sites on the net for us reptile lovers, but the arrogance of a few puts too many people off.

seksyjinke - good on ya for asking and CONTINUING to ask even thou some pp's are needing a smack upside their heads! Don't be afraid to keep questioning!

The Only DUMB question is one NOT asked!!

Hey there,
The styrofoam should go on the bottom, then the heat mat, then I use a sheet of 3mm MDF (this is all as per the instructions for a Microclimate 13W heat mat). It works fine, there is still a gap under the enclosure. (see pic)
