Can anyone help me I need to know if you can make a frame for a snake cage out of jarrah as it's my first time making an enclosure:D

Nothing wrong with jarrah. Go for gold it will look sensational.

the only reason you wouldnt use jarrah is the expense of it. its a great looking timber.

wow, jarrahs pricey, should look awesome though!!

dont forget to post pix when its finished!!

also can you use paint remover on the enclosure without killing the snakes?

i think jarrah wold look awesome as a show piece enclosure...but for someone building a few cages the cost of doing them all in jarrah would be alot.....thats why alot of people use white melamine for multiple enclosures.....

I might not be able to make it the jarrah could've had lead based paint on it:cry::evil:
is there a way to test it and can you use it if you take the paint off?

jarrah, would be awesome, not sure about testing for lead, but good luck with it. I'm into enclosures that dont look like ikea furniture.keep us posted.

Your local paint suppler should have lead test kits, very easy to use.as to paint stripper as long as it is washed off properly and the timber air to remove any chemicals, after varnishing it should make no differecnce
