Jumbo rat???

Okay, I'm trying this thread the other way around from normal threads about feeding. Starting with the size of the feed (Jumbo rat weighing 390gms). What size/age Bredli would you feed THIS to?? I am asking because my son is feeding his these sizes, but they look far too big for him!!!

Well im feeding my larger Port Macs that are 6foot and 4-5 years old,the eat large rats no problems,some are eating chicken drumsticks,which are larger than rats.

The bad thing is though once rats start getting that big its generally no good for the snake as they have alot of fat on them, personally I only feed lean adults around 220g.

Once I start needing anything bigger I will just feel the 220g + another small rat if need be, or small rabbits every now and then.

Many many heartfelt thanks..... I have been TRYING to tell him it's too big, you have shown that that size isn't good, both of you, thank you so much. He denies it, saying, look at him, he chomps through it and eats it quick (which he does), but he sits for days after looking like a barrel about to split its skin!!!!!

Wouldn't go near a rat that size for my snakes, age and size regardless. The largest of my snakes get maximum rat size of 220, and they have to be long and lean. Beyond that you are in the realm of rabbits, MUCH healthier.

yeh u ppl in NSW should jump in and feed your pythons rabbits.
Us QLDérs r stuck wif fat rats.
