My little sister recently bought a jungle python who was born on 30 december last year. I have a diamond who was born 27 january this year and i have noticed that he is much bigger almost double the size and is always smelling things when i get him out. But her snake seems to be uninterested in smelling or even feeding i tried to feed him a fuzzie mouse and he didn't even sniff it now that i come to think of it i have not seen his tongue out at all could this be a problem or could he just be settling into his new home?

Depends how long ago she got him? From my personal experience jungle's are harder to feed and can be finicky feeders when young, in comparison to other pythons. How long ago was it's last feed and what did it eat?

Pics of the enclosure would help to give more accurate advice....

she got him 4 days ago. The person she bought it off didn't keep proper records and thats why i am unsure of its last feed although she said it was due for a feed. The records say he last fed on the 22nd of july and she was feeding them on weaners. Ill post some photos up now. also the size doesnt seem right i dont know how big jungles are supposed to be but it seems as though the person they bought it off wasnt properly keeping records as she said she was feeding them every 10 days.

Snake was purchased on the 11-8-10
Snake was eating thawed FUZZY MICE fortnightly Snake sold in own container
Told to stop handling and let it settle in dont change the paper towel until it eats for you as it has his smell all over it. You may have to leave the thawed fuzzy right in front of the hide box the snake is hiding in, Feed every 10 if you dont want it to grow too fast

when i got my hatchie jungles i let them settle for7 days before offering a feed. Then 1 of them ate the other refused. Took 2 weeks to get the 2nd one to eat. apart from handling the day i got them to transfer into seperate click clacks they were only handled as a necessity to clean until they had 2 feeds each. Even now they are both finicky eaters ie any movement/vibration will make them drop/regurge their food.

Onto enclosure what is the inside temp on the hot/cold ends? this can also attribute to loss of appetite

Really is that so. Well on your document of feed shed records it says that firstly you didn't feed the snake from the 30 december till the 22nd of february thats 22 days after it was born the next feed was 18 days later, third feed was within the fortnight, the next feed was in 23 days, the next feed was 60 days later, the next was 30 days later and u got the last one right, is it correct that the snake has only fed 7 times since birth? also it states that the snake has only shed once since birth???? this doesn't seem right to me. My mum doesn't know alot about snakes but this doesn't seem right to me at all.

......
Wow thats confusing,- And the 22nd of feburary is 53DAYS after its birth in 30 Dec.Apart from not knowing your maths, maybe you should get into some reading ect, and learn about whats 'normal' for you or your Mums snake. It has been said that a snake once went almost 12months after birth, until it ate(im not sure if thats correct),-so they do have very erratic feeding at times, especially when young.
Not flicking the tongue, doesnt always mean , something wrong. Maybe he's just petrified, from the upheival and movement into a new home, new people, new enviroment, and maybe a bit stressed to be interested in food.-there is no way it would act anything like your adapted older python.I think it needs to settle in, time will telltime will tell.

let the snake settle in for atleast a couple of weeks , get it to feed a couple of times BEFORE even thinking of handling it .
where do u have the click clacks temp gauge ? i cant see it in any of the pics .

also have you looked at things on these forums that some have to do to get snakes to eat when they have been feeding well previously. My Female still wont eat unless i aggro her by tapping the mouse along her head/back. Mind you she will hit me everytime i move in front of her

Even still 53 days makes it even worse Im not having a crack it just doesn't seem normal for a snake to have a 53 day gap from eating. Im simply trying to find out if this amount of feeding is sufficient as it normally says snakes should feed every fortnight. yes they will turn down food sometimes but 53 and 60 day gaps do not sound right. sorry if i caused offense but when Snake-Lady Viper told me it was eating fortnightly why was this not recorded on the sheet. Im just ensuring that my sister has not been sold a snake that does not eat properly as she is only 10 and we have no idea how to deal with these issues as of yet.

bump up the hot spot to about 32 degrees. dont offer any more food for a couple of weeks, let it settle for a bit, dont handle (as much as its tempting to), no tongue flicking can be a sign that the snake is sick, so keep an eye on it, or it could just be wary of its new home.

or can mean that its just a mellow snake, my male rarely tongue flicks until feeding time

thus why i said 'can by', not 'because your python doesnt tongue flick, its definitely sick'.

when she's in her enclosure, mine generally doesnt tongue flick at all, but when she's out, she does it all the time.

Yeah that was my concern even when i tried to give it the mouse it turned away without taking any notice of or interest in the mouse he didn't even flicker its tongue around the food.
