Jungle x jag heating question

I put his hide half on the hot and half on the cool. He always curls up on the warm side so that's alright. But yeah he won't eat either. The warm side goes from 20 in the morning to 31 through the day. And cool said about 10-20. He always hangs up in the tree on the cool side. I just tried to feed him and after touching him with the mice and everything he just got heaps close and looked at it then have it a simple strike.

I'm having the same problem with my diamond/coastal intergrade. Same 30x30x30 enclosure too.

Mine stopped hanging out in the branches at the cool end when I put in two secure hides. Try a lightbulb box really loosely stuffed with scrunched up toilet paper/paper towel, my guy is actually using his hides since I changed them to those

Those low min temps have put him into brumation.Unless you can raise them then he will stay that way until spring.

Do you reckon a light aswell??? Mite put it where he always goes on cool side cause the tree goes right up the top and he always hangs there. So it's probly to cold

A light will help a lot at raising air temps which would be a good thing however since you can't run a light 24/7 then it will do nothing for your really low mins.

​so what can I do? I did have a tub but I had issues heating it that's why I went with the enclosure.

I know it's not common for hatchies, but couldn't he run an infrared it ceramic bulb, since snakes can't see that kind of light?

This is a small photo of where he always is (cool side) behind him is the warm he sometimes goes in the stick above it. Thinking light where he is now ? Iv blacked out the 2 corners to help him feel safe on the warm side.

A ceramic bulb would be your best bet for heating the air temp at night. But don't put it on the cool end, if you did that, the snake would have no escape from the heat. The bulb will still heat the air on the cool end, but it won't be as intense.

The bulb is for the cool temps

Use the bulb at night, to deal with the low temps. Because its heating air temp, it will still warm up the cool end, even though its on the warm end. But if you have a heat mat at one end and a heat bulb at the other, then the snake can't escape if the heat gets to intense for it.

But put it on the warm side? Should I get a big lamp but just the small 50watt bulb? So it covers the whole area but it won't be to over powering

Yes, that would work. But put it on the warm side.

What light? Uv or? And 50 watt? And turn it off at night? I'm going to get him a new hide aswell. Have one on the cool side and one right on the heat matt

In all honesty I would ditch the glass cage and get yourself a 7lt sistema tub. Set it up with something to climb on, hide warm and cool end, water at cool end, paper towel or newspaper substrate and heat mat under 1/3 running off thermostat set to 32. This is how most people keep young snakes and it works. These glass enclosures look good all done up but obviously aren't the easiest to control ambient temps in. With the tub, if your having trouble with low temps you can adjust the amount of heat mat underneath.
Honestly all this talk about heat lights and stuff is confusing for new keeper. Remember the KISS principle, keep it simple stupid.

All these questions should of been asked before you got the snake.I'm glad that he is fine.How long he stays that way for is debatable though.Keep an eye out for RI's.Good advice has already been given yet you seem to want to persist in doing it your way which clearly isn't working.I don't really know how anyone can help you anymore.
