Hi, I have recently bought 2 jungle pythons and they are not eating. According to the breeder they were eating every 1 or 2 weeks on pinkys. They are 8 months old. I have had them 4 weeks now and they still won't eat. Their cage is quite large and the temp is maintained at 26. any advice would be greatly appreciated...

maybe bump up the temps, our diamond didnt eat for about that long. it takes persistance, at first we had to get her angry, push mouse near her body etc to make her strike. and they are probably still settling in

You need a hot spot of 32 degrees C and a cool end around 26 or 28. Get the temps right first and you might have more success. If the breeder is local you might ask him/her to check your set up.

Just the time of year, even if temps are up, some snakes know its winter, my childreni is scared of food in winter, more then interested in it.
If their together and in a large enclosure, i suggest you put them in small enclosures, and by themselves.. That will do them alot of good.

Hey Snake Girl, I am no expert but in my limited experience temps the are most obvious cause and the first thing to check. Most find it easier to keep small snakes in tubs or click clacks there are a number of threads to find info on them - I have found it easier to help the little guys stay warm in tubs. 26 seems low if that is the hottest spot, I aim for 32 in hot end and 24 in cool end. One of my snakes juvies went of his feed for the last month with cold temps in SE QLD and only just got him going this week again.
Once you have the temps right there are a number of threads on feeding tips for problem feeders which have worked for me this last season.
I recommend doing some reading on care sheets. I purchased a copy of "Keeping & Breeding Australian Pythons" by Mike Swan which was a good start. Some of the sites sponsors will stock it.

Best of luck.

put them in small enclosures or click clacks at 32deg. leave them alone for a week then try feeding. after they have had a couple of feeds move them up to fuzzy mice

yeh for 8 months old they would not be on pinkies, mine r on day old chicks and fopper rats and there 8 months old, but as explained already temps play a big factor
