Possibly from inbreeding, but spontaneous mutations do occur naturally on the odd occassion. Inbreeding certainly doesn't help matters tho'.

My concern would be, assuming it survives to adulthood, that someone tries to breed a line of these things.

Proberly not. This is quite common, but most don't hatch or die very young.
