Does anyone have any hints/tips on helping crickets survive for longer if they have to live outside before being fed off?

My boyfriend hates me keeping my crickets inside because he thinks they smell bad and that they're noisy - I hate keeping them outside for too long because I think it reduces their lifespan, but its his house so I have to do what he says

Any help or advice would be very gratefully received!

can u keep them in the garage? only thing id say is not to have them somewere they wiill be exposed to direct sunlight and are gonna get cooked. ive kept boxes of crickets and they normaly fine. they do after all live outside in the wild:p and also make sure they are safe if it rains cause i have had one or 2 boxes flooded out.

If you are talking about the crickets you buy in tubs from the pet shop then you can just give them a nice wet lettuce leaf, this should tie them over for an extra week or so. As zan777 said you would need to keep an eye on temps either way, being in Vic that would also mean the cold. I think the brown crickets are a more northern spices and don't tolerate the cold weather very well, but i'm not 100% sure on that. Keeping them in the garage would be the go although I have had a few friends that were storing crickets in their garage and they would be over-run with ants.

Thanks for the advice guys :)

I might monitor the temps in our garage and see if it would be suitable for the crickets.

Keep them in a warm dark place, egg cartons to hide away in.
Plenty of carot, potato, and gutload oh and they love beardie pellets.
Use a bottle lid as a water dish, put some wet paper towel in there as they drown in full bodies of water.

I pick out dead ones with toothpicks, that reduces the smell.

just a misting and some small quantities of vege, mine last weeks in the container i buy them in.
