Gimme Steve Irwin anyday over those blue-haired, tea-sippin', bingo-playin', caphor-bra'd, sunday-drivin', heel-toe'n, penny-miser'n, pet-food eatin', false-toothed old bags anyday :D Jesus, have I gone a little off the beaten track here? :D

Moosey - - you just described me.

I apologise Blue. It was over the top and I was caught up in the venting. lol
Thinking about it seriously, I think it may be a physical impossiblity. Unless I'm the Hulk.
Hmmm, you never know. lol *flexes biceps*

I usually deal with those people by Smiling and asking what pets they have. Then point out what damage their roaming cat does to the environment and that a dog bite is far worse than any I've seen from a snake - as well as my favourite reminder of the rodent population and how it would explode without snakes. That's when they see themselves hopping on chairs and squealing - as I would do.

I need to change my methods. I'm rude.

Actually....at TWP after a 20minute reptile talk, nearly everyone in the crowd jump at the oppurtunity to hold a snake.... 99% of them love it too.

nah, u have covered all the things that those "blue-haired, tea-sippin', bingo-playin', caphor-bra'd, sunday-drivin', heel-toe'n, penny-miser'n, pet-food eatin', false-toothed old bags" are. well done on the description by the way. couldn't have described them better myself. :D if they won't change KILL THEM!!!! atleast that will b one less thing for u to worry about then. afew of the suggestions from before will b adiquate.

a good prank to get bak at her would be to buy a rubber snake and when goin to work lob it on her face, lol just a thought.

i think it will only be a mater of years before having a snake for a pet will be a trend like a fasion accsesory but hope fully not i mean it really shocked me the other day when my mum aksed if she could touch monty as she had never touched a snake before and today i acctually got her to hold him for a minute and she is terrified of them i honestly thought she would be the last person in the world to hold a snake

well i think owning a snake and when meeting people and telling them i own one starts a very good conversation and most of the time people think you are more of an interesting person but sumtimes u get the odd "your a freak" but i just go along with it and say yeah i guess i am then they shut up.

Just going back to what moose said about spiders, my missus is arachnaphobic, I mean if there's a daddy long legs in the corner of the room 6meters away, she freezes and breaks out in to a cold sweat. I've had her ring me at work to come and get rid of the spider in the corner of the room. However when you say I'll kill it and get rid of it, I get hit and told to catch it and put it outside as it's not the spiders fault it is where it is.
So to keep her happy I catch them and put them outside.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that we all have our little phobias of some sort, it's just how you deal with them. As scared of spiders as my wife is she doesn't think they all should be killed or that they are discusting creature etc. and has since with a little help from me learnt to control her fears and doesn't even notice them half the time.

If only silly old people could be as understanding.

That's it Greg start another one of those "you said, I said, but you know nothing" type threads.
Beside that, old people should n't be offended about what is written in this post. I mean there must be heapsof old people in this thread ie. over 40's LOL

your wife sounds like me hugsta lol. but like her i dont want them to be killed...just out of my way! cos i have such a stupidly bad fear of spiders i can understand how people feel when they see a snake that they have a fear of...but unlike spiders, if a snake is in your house its probably going to be a moving fear right? lol correct me if im wrong, we dont get snakes in our houses down here! i usually find that most people are extremely intrigued and ask about 1000 questions. at a friends place last weekend it came up that we had them and i was answering questions for about half an hour. every now and then you do get someone who freaks out...all i do is ask them what they're afraid of/concerned about and then shoot their argument down in flames lol. if they think its gross (a lot of people seem to think they are slimey) i tell/show them that they're actually quite soft and smooth, or if they think its disgusting that they eat rats, i ask them what they think their pet cat is doing when its out at night or remind them how much their dog enjoyed picking up and eating that dead possum in the park last week lol. and my snake doesnt lick his bum either :D

anyway, back to the fear thing, i dont really know if my fear of spiders could be controlled...i cant go into a bloody room if there has been one in there lol...not so much a daddy long legs but a hhhhuunnttssman *shudder*. mind you i have never had someone come up to me with one and try to educate me and help cure it lol. so i respect anyone that has a genuine fear and cant even look at a snake...cos i have been there with bird eating spiders in pet shops lol  i MAY have hidden behind someone recently...

Love to see some of you lot get through a week of catch and release without belting someone to death with a jigger.
There's a whole world of idiots out there, snakes must be attracted to them

All fears can be overcome. I'm afraid of dogs (I know I know) but can still pat them and deal with them without having to kill them all and I can assure you, you are much more likely to die from a dog attack than from a non venemous snake. People seem to enjoy having unreasoned predjudices - they think it makes them better than those who don't share their views.

Funny you mention that Fuscus! - two (2) of my relatives have been killed by horses! In totally separate accidents! None have been killed by snakes  My daughter rides a horse every week-end - I'm always telling her to be exra careful around them. :?

Jimmy - You did good. Now, she'll slowly get to like him more and start buying you new snakes!

Irwins Mum died in a car accident after years of being with Vens and Crocodiles.

My Phobia is cockroaches, so I rarely run into people with them as pets. TG!

I got bitten on the arm by a horse once, bloody hurt, i would of given him a jab on the nose if the owner wasn't there. :)
