i only have a 1ft x 1ft x 1ft. its my little slice of the ocean. corals and everything but it isn't that attractive atm! though i hope to buy a 3ft x 18" x 18"!
ALSO, let me inform everybody that it only really gets expensive if you setup a reef tank or a fowlr(fish only with live rock) tank. a fish only tank costs about the same as your standard tropical fishtank. cept the fish are a little big more expensive(but more colourful).
thats why small tanks like mine are good, i have to look hard for corals that are small enough to fit in my tank! i have only spend about 80 bucks on coral, however thats only for my leather coral($35), 2 mushrooms($10 each) and my open brain coral. i also have a colony of brown button polyps, a colony of nice coloured zoanthids and a red mushroom that cost me $0, i simply traded for them! what you do is get yoruself some nice corals then grow em and cut em up! then trade the cuttings(frags) for frags of different corals!

I agree there is always that extra bit of coral, or fish you see you just have to have, damn expensive hobby but very impressive once set up properly.
