nev

by the way things are going i think every herper there has a mini pet store in their back yard ;)

tru dat... just wanting to ask what price pet stores offer for beardy hatchlings figuring that one of you guys would look after them better than your average pet store...
nev

nah lookin to sell mine... got 16 to sell and no one to sell them to so ill sell to a pet store

don't if you want them to have a good start in life neven :? unless you sell them to the melb reptile warehouse, they actually know how to take care of reptiles.

ring petstores in Brisbane, they are selling them for $120-00 each so they would probably give you $60-00 each.

yeh but the cost in shipping would add to that aswell... just because the sell them for alot doesnt mean they buy them for alot aswell... fish and feather in melbourne sell them for $90 and would only offer me $15 each LOL how pathetic is that. i would luv for them to have a good start in life zoe but i cant afford to feed 16 beardies for much longer... i only get $25 a week :( i have found a reptile store called Australian Reptile and Aquarium Supplies in Mentone who i have heard to look after their animals well and offered me $30+... i called Melbourne Reptile House and they offered $15-$20.

yeah i have a mate that is a manager at a shop and they only pay $15 for baby's as they buy 10 at a time.and mentone are not the best store around for husbandry on more than 1 occasion i have seen dead animals still in tank but was told "thats how they sleep". you wont get what you want for them from a pet shop maybe just lower your prices for the general herp people.

hehehe your funny. nah i get them for $15 each mate so im fine but i dont have any yet of him so maybe after they get a bit bigger i will get some but have to pay a bit more as feeding costs continue to rise..

i would sell them cheap but i need the money to start paying off what they have cost me and improve their enclosures... they do look dead a lot of the time... i have thought mine are dead quite a few times... like they dont move at all when you touch them and look totally dead, then 2 mins later you see them running round the cage like crazy...

Hi Nev,

If you would like to email me @ [email protected] I can give you the details of a shop in Melbourne that purchase reptiles from the HerpTrader from time to time. I have never visited their shop, but would like to one day.

Kind Regards, Judy

....oops sorry Nev, I should clarify that...the Pet Shop has 'inquired' from time to time on the Herptrader...I don't know if she bought.

Cheers, Judy

nev mentone is alright but still not the best place. in one of their cages the baby beardies had obviously all been fighting and the prices on the door were "no tail: $x", "missing foot:$x", "stumpy tail:$x"

nev, for the good of your animals, please sell them to the reptile warehouse! Don't get me started on mentone.

well visited mentone to check it out n sold em today :? soz guys hadnt seen the last few posts...
i think its a great pet store... best i hv seen in melbourne... yes he did have one enclosure for those beardies who had been in fights how ever you gotta remember many of those may have lost their tales before going to him and many times fights are unpreventable. i no this as my male has lost the tip of his tale too and there was nothing i could do. one fight is all it takes and i hvnt seen them fight since...
i spoke to him (the reptile guy) for a while and he certainly new what he was doing and the rest of the beardies were looking very healthy and i saw alot eating from the fresh foods... the waterdragons also looked well kept after and all cages were very clean... i dont no what you guys have seen or maybe a while ago it wasnt to good but from what i saw of it i would recommend it to any one buying or selling...
and to what some one said about seeing what was thought to be a dead beardy hatchling left in the cage, it is pretty impossible to tell if tthey are actually dead with out studying them for atleast an hour. one of mine i was ready to bury then thought i would just leave it until i got home. he was actually stiff and seemed to hv been dead a while then when i got home he was running around normally.
