What most people are missing is that it's not McD's that is going to be out of $41, it's the people who own that franchise. They are ordinary people, maybe even herp keepers......
I'd send it back via the post, with a letter explaining what happened, guarrantee you'd really make everyone who works there's day.
Justifying it simply doesn't work.... you may have been overcharged 50c 82 times, but that person working the till did not realise they had done so or they would not have done it. I've worked a till, I know how hard it can be. I also worked with someone who twice lost $50 from his till. It made him a very nervous and slow person on the till from then on, and after a few months a mutual decision was reached that he would cease to work there.

She then called a supervisor. He gave me the cash, took my details and said if the draw is out today, he would give me a call. I havent heard from them, but I am however $41.70 richer!!!!

Ummm.........just re-reading the original post.

The supervisor took your details and said he would call if the drawer is out.

The supervisor hasn't called. Therefore, you can assume the draw was not out. Or it was and they don't care.

but i am not really kritical of people who take different wiew. Magpie did strike the valid point. It is really small business who lose the money.

But as hix said, you did not hear from the manager after notification, you did the right thing.

At maccas we do have a 3 warning system called EAF's. though these are more behaviour things. at the maccas i work at cash loss from draws is a serious matter and more often then not the police do get involved.

Ring them and tell them to come and get it! It's their problem why should you have to take it back? If they want it they'll come and get it

I agree, the manager said he would call you if the drawer was down, they could've, but if you cionciounse is bugging you call them and offer it back if they want to come pick it up as your fuel cost are also part fo the equation......can you tell i cant spell, dont hold that against me, if you want to hold something against me, make it cute anf fluffy, or a snake!!...
