I was sitting on my balcony today watching the world go by, and it was a beautiful sunny day so i put my little bredli on the fence for a sun bake whilst i enjoyed some music and some ciggies. many pedestrians were walking past on the footpath (my street is a main street of town) and nobody had ev noticed.
he was there for at least 20 minutes before i decided to grab him and head back inside. as i was getting him off the fence, and old man walked past and was like holy crap what is that! and then i was like oh hes my snake and after a few seconds of shock he was absolutely fascinated, and asked if he could touch him as long as i kept Happy's head away. he touched him and was amazed, as most people are, with how he felt.
i then went on to talk to this man for a long time, and found out that he was from new zealand and has never been up close to a snake before now. he said he had only seen wild snakes and got no where near them, and never touched them.
after a while of watching my little fellow on the fence, he told me that he was now aware that snakes are harmless and not out to hurt people, before that he always thought that all snakes should be killed as they will harm you, that is what he was told when he came over from new zealand.
i felt good about myself that i had educated at least one person that snakes are not bad and should be just left alone if you come across them in the wild. he told me he would never harm a snake, just after meeting my little fellow and realising they are not bad at all.
i love being a snake owner
