Stimi's don't need heat at night. Give them 12hrs heat 32-35C in the basking spot and that is fine.

If I remember rightly, this stimmie is less than a year old? Shouldn't they have heat 24 hours a day?

Stimilove, has she eaten recently? She'll definitely need some kind of heat if she's still digesting.

my local vet is a moron. They dont care about the animals, they just want the money. I got "yelled" at for not feeding my dog on their $200 bag of Hills Science dog food! And as it turns out, it ones of the worst foods on the market! Maybe thats why the sanke is burnt! She doesn't eat Hills Science food!!!!!

Your local Reptile dealer only wants your money too.
I have already said I wouldn't worry about the snake unless it worsens and the skin breaks, as Goz has said maybe a bit of Bepanthen. Your main concern should be monitoring temps, take multiple readings over the rock as they can have hotspots which might explain a localized burn (as others have suggested it may not even be a burn)

I have seen Mark at Port Kennedy vets he performed a minor procedure on my SWCP and at what I consider a reasonable price, consultation, Xray, Anaesthesia, procedure, antibiotics, worming + post care for under $350.

She does have a heat rock, but its a very low wattage one and it doesn't feel remotely hot in any way.

Throw out the heat rock they are crap. They heat inconsistently and can have spots that get really hot. Also remember just feeling things isn't an accurate way to measure temps, we're already heated and i know touching a heat mat that is keeping a tub at 30c barely feels warm to us.

The above pictures show it's big enough to not be heated at night.

I have no advice to give but i have got rid of my heat rock now due to all the advice on here. If you are after a tile 2 make a heat tile thingy, bunnings is good or a tile shop and use heat cord set up. There is a DIY on how to make them. I have found my girl is loving her new one more than the heat rock!!! Good luck!!
P.S. She is a very cute stimmi by the way!!

ok. she's under a year old. She ate before her shed and is due to eat again. Its deffinately a burn as its scaly and pink on one spot, not all over her body.
I went past a pet store thismorning to see what i could get to change things. The chick there said no need to spend any more money, simply bury the heat rock in the substrate to put a barrier between her body and the surface. This if for night. As for day, she said the heat lamp will work fine. All i know i the whole *** thing sucks and i wish i never bought the set up in the first place. I am fed up of "just buying more stuff". I have hundreds of dollars of "stuff" to throw in the bin. How much more do i have to spend!? I'm over it. Now i am going to bunnings (to spend even more money) to make sure her branch is high enough to the heater lamp which i am sure will just do something else to hert her. YAY! off i go..............

It's all a learning curve and unfortunately the biggest lesson is don't trust the reptile and pet stores that are trying to sell you stuff you dont need. One of the cheapest places to get reptile stuff from is Herpshop.com.au
If you had of bought the enclosure all you needed was a lamp holder $8, light cage $30, ceramic heat emitter $38 and a thermostat $110. indoor/outdoor thermometer $12. And that is it!
In enclosures like yours you don't need to worry about cords or heat rocks. You can simply run a ceramic 24/7.

Massive stimi for under a year old. It's not so much the age but the size of them in my opinion as to when to move them from 24/7 heat in click clacks to 12hrs heat in enclosures. That said I havent had one get very big in it's first year.

I can only hope buring a heat rock in walnut shell doesnt start a fire for you! :|

If you are NOR or willing to travel NOR with your enclosure I can help you set it all up properly. I have a spare ceramic lamp holder you can have so you can get rid of that stupid fan heater thing... . What sort of thermostat have you got?

If you do need to see a vet in the future, I would recommend Warnbro Veterinary Clinic. I had to take our SWCP baby there last year with a minor prolapse. After they treated it, it required further treatment (after hours on a Saturday night) - there was no charge at all for this. The total bill - $65. They were great.

I'd piss the heat rock off.
Check her again in a few days, if looks like its getting worse, take to vet.
Peace of mind.

You would do it for your dog, theres no difference.

Re burying the heat rock; that would be my initial fear too.

It's nice to know there are still some kind-hearted people out there willing to help newbies out :)

I hope it hasn't sounded like I was trying to give you a hard time.
It's obvious that you only want the best for your snake and unfortunately some people use this to their advantage when making a sale. I have been caught out myself and funnily enough nearly bought the exact same setup as you seem to have.
First snakes can be quite overwhelming to the point of your head needing to explode from an information overload, but it is really quite easy if you keep it simple.
Maybe you could post a few photo's of your setup and people may be able to give you some pointers on keeping further costs down.
Please don't be put of by your current situation it will only get easier and more enjoyable from here on in.

Although not a member myself, Snowman above and Bluetongue1 who you may also have seen giving great advice on this forum are committee members of the Western Australian Herp Society (I think they are meeting next week) and you maybe able to get in touch with like minded people.

i spent $300 on a lamp, bulb and thermostat. Its not working. So now my snake has no heat, i have a **** product. and all i can do is cry.
i'm over it.

That is sad :C it's a real harsh way to learn. It's a bit too late now.. But in future if you are to buy anything definitely have a look at the sponsors sites before going to pet shops. Way cheaper, i've personally dealt with The Herp Shop many times and ProHerp once both were hassle free and quality products.

Why is it not working? whats going wrong with it?
When did it feed last

Is there anyone near her that can lend her a click clack and heat cord?

I had one of those fan heaters I ended up getting rid of it. I didn't trust it in summer it is like a fan forced oven.

i dont know why its not working. i have made sure its plugged in right, bulb screwed i tight. 10pm at noght and i have no way of heating her. She hasn't eaten in a few weeks. she wont eat if her heating is crap.
how long can she go with no heat?
this has totaly ruined my weekend. first i burn her, now i spent $300 and can't do a god damn thing for her.
i hate today.

Is it the heater light that is not working? Does the fan still come on?

She will be fine without heat for a few days if she hasn't eaten for a few weeks.

It is good she hasn't eaten, not having heat at this stage will be fine I have just sent you a PM.
Have a cup of tea and forget about the snake until tomorrow it will be fine.
