its not a fan. its a heat lamp. And its not heating up.

in the mean time, what about the snake? She has no heat! What do i do? Will she be safe until i can organise MORE money and get something else?? I have been told she is about 12 to 18 months old. can she handle no heat?

Elapidae knows his stuff you are in good hands. Everything will be fine, it will NEVER be this hard again. I'm sad you have had to go through this. First snakes are exciting, this has just made it really crap :(

She can handle no heat. I suspect the globe is blown.

I can lend you a heat cord if you can make it into the city to collect it.

its just a simple lamp with a ceramic bulb. no fans, no light, just a hot bulb. I'd say the lamp is broken.
How much is a heat cord going to set me back? I can't keep spending money - i none left :(
I work in perth, but i just dont have hundreds to spend any more.

If its not heating up is say its blown. Have you tried plugging the lamp directly into the power and not through the thermostat? Too see if its the thermostat?

yeah, i tried that. its the lamp thats broken i would say. Best $100 i ever spent!

Thank you SO much, Snowman!!! I will look after it and give it back ASAP!

Now go to bed Stimilove and stop stressing, thats an order

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble Stimilove :(
What started out as super exciting for you has obviously become a nightmare.
How did you go with the heat cord?
I hope you are feeling a bit better about it all now after some much-needed rest?

Wow! This thread, while making me feel sad and angry for you StimiLove, has also brightened my day up so! Snowman and elipadae1 and starr- It is so nice to see that there is still some genuinely kind and helpful people around.

StimiLove, hold in there hun, your lil fella will be fine. don't stress, I know that's hard after you have spent so much time, effort and money into something.

Unfortunately we all too often hear about the bad stories and it sometimes seems that there's more of them than good stories.
The help I've recieved and good people I've encountered during my few years in the hobby far outway the bad.
It's a shame when the actions of 1 or 2 individuals taint other peoples perceptions

It seems the message has gotten across - Heat rocks are bad hmmm-kay.

Stick to the overhead heating via lamps and ceramics and always use a thermostat.

It has been so nice to read a thread where people were genuinely helpful and no one flamed the OP.

Thankyou so much everyone for you kind words, advice and help :) Snowman is a legend for providing some heat for my poor, crispy stimi. She is toasting herself as we speak and with my flash thermostat there is no chance she'll combust.
The *****ty heat rock and fan light will be put on the shooting pile and the lamp that doesn't work is going back tomorrow to be replaced with something even better (thanks to the advice of snowman again) :)
I'll still keep all your numbers you have all sent me in case i have another crying fit and need advice ;)

Woohoo I'm a legend! (in my own click clack :p)
Glad to hear it's all woking for you stimilove.
