Unfortuantely, we got Samson home from the vets today, and a little over an hour later he had passed away, we had not tried to force feed him so i can only presume it was stress coupled with his poor condition. The doctor said he had been getting better, but i guess its all in vain now. At the moment ive got a month worth of antibiotics and some of that cat food that you are supposed to force feed and i dont know what to do with it, if you have any idea can you tell me?
Thanks guys for all your help, but at least he is in a better place now.

sorry to hear that Charlie, its a little dissapointing there was no exact explination for it.
Keep your chin up, it happens to the best of us

Thanks Bigi,

Ive made some modifications to the tank, and installed another large air vent to keep up a better air flow, ive gotten rid of the sand and i think ill try another reptile that doesnt need as much heat as those Central Netteds.

sorry to hear man must of been hard.
keep the antis and food never know the may come in handy

sorry about your lizard
may i suggest a central bearded dragon?
not hard to keep and they can be great fun as well.
my mate has 2 and they are funny as hell

Thanks mate, these werent my first reptile, so i thought i knew what i was doing but i guess no matter how much you learn theres always more.
The tank that was housing the Netteds is probably too small for a Vitticeps, but im on the hunt for something else that might fit in there, any idea?

Yea i will defiantely not be rushing in to getting another reptile and i plan on waiting for a bit then getting the temrepture right for a couple of weeks then go on the hunt for a reptile, i was thinking a cunninghams or hosmer skink?

Netted dragons are very easy to keep. They need to be hot, dry and fed live insects and occasional chopped greens. They do not drink standing water very often and need to be misted once a week or so to keep them hydrated. Otherwise they become weak, emaciated and die. How were you offering water to your lizard?

Hi Serpentes, i was offering water both ways, in a large bowl for them to splash about in and misting them (with the iron, cold water of course) i did see the male drinking from the water bowl occansionally?

I guess it wasn't dehydrated then if you misted it and saw it drink standing water. You may have just been unlucky and had a sick individual? I have been looking after 30 or so for a couple of years and they are all good except for one, which lost condition and would not feed. I got him eating by putting legless crickets (not fun) in a little dish in front of him. He still died, sadly. I think the most important thing is to keep them hot in the day with a basking spot of 60 degrees or more. Artificial burrows help them feel secure and establish their little territory inside their cage.

I hope your next critter works out better for you.
