Gday guys im fairly new to snakes..Im just wondering if you can give me tips on care for it, im not sure to keep it in a so called click clack or just put him into the enclosure that i had built straight up? also if im keeping in a cliick clack should i keep the heat matt on the full bottom of it? also should i keep it on 24/7? What type of lighting would be good for my built enclosure? are the so called party uav lights alright ? ill have that running with a another light but not sure what watts an what type of light?

Hey hows it goin AP?
If you're getting a hatchie or yearling then it seems most people use click clacks. There's a lot of debate about it recently but I use them and have found them to be very easy. Plus I noticed a thread the other day where some one had put their young olive in an enclosure and it damaged it's prefrontal scale sticking it's nose between the sliding glass. That may not have happened in a click clack.
Put the tub over 1/3 of the heat mat. I use heat chords as mats seem to have a bad reputation, though it's been said they are a lot better now days. I keep mine heated 24/7 until they are big enough to go into their adult enclosures. And feed them year round. Make sure you use a probe thermostat with your heat mat too.
Lighting in the enclosure (not click clack) is up for debate. I don't give my pythons UV. I have a small fluro in each enclosure with a normal cool white tube in it, which is just for light. I use ceramic heat emmitters for heat that just screw into the standard es light fitting like a globe.
There's tones of info in these forums just use the search button on the top and you'll be on your pc for hours! :)
Also I recomend getting CARE OF AUSTRALIAN REPTILES IN CAPTIVITY - John Weigel.

ok , id put the hatchling in a click clack . you only need the click clack on 1/3 rd of the heat mat [ make sure the heat mat is thermostat controled] .
for the future the enclosure you built , can have either party lights- even the flood light globes from bunnings [ i use a ceramic heat emitter] make sure you have the right size light cage [if the cage is too short and not fat enough the light bulb can make the cage too hot] . you can put a fluro light in- once again it would need to be caged [ but no need to worry about the heat - as fluros give off very little heat- the cage has more to do with the snake not breaking the fluro ] , but i just use the daylight in my snake room . if its a dull kind of day i just turn the main room lights on [ long fluro style] .

Did you ask the person you got it from for advice on how to keep it properly? If so what did they say?

I've always been told that you should keep hatchies heated 24/7.

jeeze that cage is way to large for the hatchling put it back into the clickclack use heatcord or a heatmat under 1 3erd of the tub and make sure it has a hide, waterbowl up the cool end, little perch and make sure the heatmat or cord is connected to a thermostat with the probe placed where the snake will be sitting on the heat

the adult cage you have isint suitable for the hatchling yet, also you will need to rig the enclosure up with a thermostat and i dare say you will need to increase the wattage of bulb as i run 3x2x2 and 4x2x2ft enclosures and i use a single 100w globe in all of them

Hey mate, with those ceramics do you leave that going all night? also what size do you think i should get, my enclosure is 1.3m high by 2 foot square? Iv got a party uv in there with a 40watt normal globe until i work out what i want to get, every morning when i turn the lights on she's sitting on the light cage is that because it's getting to cold at night? i dont have a thermostat hooked up.Cheers for your help mate
