We have a rock wall got the sand water bowl big rock & a few hidey caves; just got to get some fake / live plants & sort out heating....so...

With the plants.... live or fake whats best? If live whats the best type to have?
And for the heating I have a repti UV 100w heat lamp with a ceramic refector that sits on top
I think its a repti-one daylight basking lamp that sits on top I was wondering would taht be OK for day use & get a blue night heat lamp globe for overnight......

I am yet to get a good themometer or thermostat..........Do i need the thermostat?

Apart from the above is there anything else i need/or should know ??

for a baby stimsons i would just be using a plastic click clack. much easier and isn't as big so the stimsons wont get stressed. if they are in enclosures too big it may stress and go off eating etc. i know my male spotted gets snappier if he's in a big enclosure.

so i would go with that for now. here is a link to help

then with my hatchie set ups i put in a little bowl with water if they wanna swim, a stick to crawl on, and a tiny hide box up each end of the enclosure. i have a 7 watt heat mat under 1/3 of the enclosure with a thermostat set between the enclosure and the mat set to about 34 degrees

works a treat for me!

ps i think fake plants would be the best, but i suppose it would need to be non toxic plastic?? don't use plants so not sure sorry. but if you want to put sticks in the enclosure you can get them from your yard and then put boiling water on them to clean them and put them in the oven to kill any germs

Thanks for the info, I set up a 10L cc for him, ive got a 25w heat cord under the bottom.
But... seems to be quite humid in there u can see from the second pic below there is some condensaion around the holes..... i have holes in the lid too - but just at one end.......... do i need more holes??
He spent last nite on top of his hidey cave & today under the paper towel halfway down the container....
I have him set up in front of my frogs wich have a uv heat lamp & when thats on he seems to bask on the rock were he can get some of it..... ( pic 1) is that ok??

I can't see your pictures. If the rock wall you have is one with ledges that he can climb or bask on, then any plants you choose to have will be mainly for decoration. My preference would be for artificial plants to reduce maintenance and assist cleaning. I have a rock wall with ledges at various heights in the back of my Stimmo's enclosure (46cm W x 46cm D x 76cm H) and he spends almost all night on it. In the wild, Stimmos frequently live on rock walls, ledges and the entrances to caves.

By the way, my Stimmo has been in that enclose since he was 6 months old and 28cm long and has never exhibited any stress. I am of the view that juvenile snakes stressing in large enclosures is an individual, not a general, occurrence and factors other than simply the size of the enclosure may be relevant..

your setup is awesome :)

I set up a 10L click clack for him instead of the big set up...... ive got a 25w heat cord under the bottom.

I can't help you much with condensation because it isn't a problem I have ever had. I have read some posts on here that recommend keeping the water dish at the cool end of the enclosure and increasing ventilation with more holes. Just make sure that the extra holes don't mess up your temperature gradient. The gradient in my enclosure is about 30-32 on the top shelf and 16-22 under the bottom shelf. Because I also use a little 7W heat mat with thermostat under half of the hide, my gradient within the hide is about 24-25 on the cool side and 34-35 on the warm side.
