Hey guy sorry for the stupid question just want to makesure its working properlly ok i have a 4ft enclosure pictured in my other thread today tittled my 2nd enclosure

it has a I.M.I.T TA.3 Wall Thermostat inside it i just wana make sure working right my other enclosure has a diff thermostat 1 with a probe in the middle im used 2 that 1 and that has a ceramic heat globe that doesnt produce light i often hear it click on and off

with this 1 its set at 30 and 2nite the light has gone off and on afew times just unsure on how thay work as im new to reptiles should the light turn off and on every now and then does it turn off once it has reached 30 and turn back on when it drops under 30

erlier on i tested the temp under the hot end and it eventully got up to around 37.8ish i was using the themomiter that is a digital 1 that i have in my turtle tank that has a probe so thought id just check with that to have a look what temps would be at the hot end

sorry for the silly question just thought id get some info on how these kind of themostats work and to check if mine is doing the job

Sounds like its working correctly.

You should have a thermometer in there though, dont use the dial

on the IMIT as your thermometer...

As your test results show, it is inaccurate...;)

yeah i plan on getting a thermometer i dont have a reptile in it yet just getting it all set up and testing it

the dial on the IMIT only goes up to 30 ??

The dial may only say 30 but inreality the thermo wil easily put out in excess of 40dg befor shutting of.
This type of thermo is very inaccurate and as such the temps should only be set by a using thermometer

so i should test temps with a thermometer so set the dial at 30 and test the temps on hot end the middle and the cool end then if i needed turn the dial down to less then 30 is that correct

Put your thermometer when you get it directly under the light on the substrate and when the temps reach around 32c turn the dial back on your thermostat until the light switches off check that the temps go up to around 32c each time the light comes on and you should be right to go.

The thermostate you are using measures the temp at the spot it is mounted . the actual temp near the heat source can be much hotter . l use a couple of cheap thermometers in each tank , one hot end, one cool end so you can tell at a glance . Beware the dial can be moved by a snake rubbing against it , secure it when you get the temp right .

thank u for all the help i think i allmost have it right just doing some tests with it now its for a bearded dragon aswell so mite not get bumped that much ill keep and eye on it all the time tho 2 make sure

i have turned it down abit the light is off so hopfully when it comes back on the thermometer will get up to around 40 was abit over 40 so turned it down abit and will try it out

Hows it going now? perfect temp and is the weather effecting the water? :-o my turtles water has changed and had to put mine on a timer

i hate switching thermos. imo go a dimming thermo much more reliable and will save you a fortune on light globes.
