G'day can someone tell me the difference between the two Olive pythons which are the larger the boroni or pilbara and from what state and colors what sets them apart etc etc. Thanks

pilbara are from the pilbara region in WA, they are the larger olive species. do a google search for rick shine and olive pythons. there is some info on mammoth olives. aren't the more common olives called liasis olivaceous? or something? then the boroni would be the pilbara one? not sure. someone who knows more will reply

Close bredli84, Liasis olivaceus olivaceus is the smaller of the two species and Liasis olivaceus barroni is the larger from the Pilbara areas.

it's also my understanding that pilbara olives are either not available or very rare in the captive trade?

Yes, that's right. Vary rare in captivity, I am sure there would be some out there somewhere though.
