hey. I was going through the list of snakes and what level licence you need to keep them. If a saw a name i liked id look it up. I'v noticed the Orange-naped snake is covered under a R1-Basic reptile licence. I have been told there venom is harmless, but shouldn't they be under R3-Venomous Reptile, Class 1. Im not complaining but i would like to know how this works with there clasification system.
Thankyou.

I keep one and i really doubt they would be under any kind of basic reptile licence. I wouldn't say there venom is harmless, you will get a reaction if bitten.

I'm pretty sure that in sa they are only a specialist licence if they are lethal to humans. Maybe its the same?

Why don't you call the NSW Licencing mob and ask them. That's about the only way you'll get a proper answer.

yer licences can get confusing unless you ask the actual know-it-alls.

So i need to ring the licencing group if i want a 'proper answer. Why do i get the feeling im going to hear the hold tune a bit tomoz...

Are they interesting captives?

They are class 1(basic) in NSW and on the recreational licence in Qld. Have you heard of any severe reactions to any bites, i thought they were considered to be relitively harmless, do they even bite?

I think the main issue would be feeding them if you dont have a supply of lizards and finding them for sale to start with isnt easy either. I have been on a list for ages and only been offered one at a high price as i think it was piebald or something similar.

I had no reaction to an adult.
They are very hard to get to strike too, alot of bluff.
I got done by one who was injured and pished at the world.
I threw a pic of the last one relocated into the Elapid Picts thread
