Does anybody know what is happening to my pigmy mulga monitor????? i just checking on them and found one of them cramping up, all legs shacking and appears to be trying to vomit. It has always been well fed is about 1 1/2 years old. Any ideas what might be wrong? Cheers

Has he had access to UV light? Do you add calcium to the diet? Has it had adequate heat?

Just an update on my Mulgas. He is now at the vet geting Vitamin injections and UV, has to stay there a couple of days. The Vet said it is due to UV deficiency... I didnt have UV light in their enclosure as i read a few articles + on forums that UV is not needed if food is dusted. I have always calcium dusted and made sure temperatures are correct. The vet confirmed the importance of UV. Just thought i would post this to warn other monitor owners, they need UV,,,, Cheers, Manie

Out of curiosity what sort/brand of Calcium are you using?
What have you been feeding it on?
How have you got it housed? ie temperature gradients etc.

I always have UV for monitors but I know of a many that say it is not necessary and have successfully bred a number of generations of small monitors without it... including pigmy mulga monitors.

I would definitely be following your Vet's direction but am aware that there is probably more to this story and something to be learned.

I too have heard and read this, thats why i didnt use it.
The calcium i think is australian calcium,
feeding mainly crickets and woodies plus chicken and beef mince,
the three are in a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft melamine enclosure with 60Wat globe
temperatures are over 50 deg on top of tile stack.
The only thing i can think of is that there are two males and one spends less ime in heated area?
They are all going to be xrayed to determine sex, just to rule this out. I havent observed any fighting...
