I am getting some jungle pythons and was wondering what sort of plants are safe for them and strong enough for them to climb on, the tanks is 141cm high so will need to be only about 130cm so it doesn't touch the heat lamp (please provide their common name). Also how far away should their sun bathing spot be from the heat lamp? Thanks

Fake plants would be best, while there are a number of safe plants for herps, most snakes are too big for the plants and will damage them in no time

Yep, most leafy plants will be smashed to bits by a sub adult or adult carpet. And unless you can rotate the plants every couple of weeks, the conditions in most reptile enclosures (poor air circulation, not enough light, very warm & dry) will reduce the health of the plants very quickly.

Probably wont kill most but will damage them and just make them look rather crappy although i must say i have seen some amazing planted GTP enclosures overseas with bromeliads, orchids, ferns etc

no i dont but if you have any questions feel free to shoot them my way, been growing plants since i was 7 or 8 so have a little bit of knowledge lol

I frequently put plants (syngoniums, philos and a few others) in my GTP enclosures because the snakes rarely move around the cages, so damage is not a problem... they just dry out fast in the warm environment. I can leave them in for about 3-4 weeks then take them out for about 8-10 weeks spell in the shadehouse.

Carpets are far too destructive though.
