hey all about 9pm last night i was driving with a friend and we came across a SWCP coiled up in the middle of the road.

so we stopped to move it of the road when i noticed that it look's like it has been hit and has a broken neck.

it was still moving so i carefully picked it up and took it home and put in in an enclosure I have.

this morning he is moving around but he cant move his head or 2 inch's of his body from the back of his head, he doesn't hiss or poke his tongue out and i think he might have a broken lower jaw.

is there anything I can do for him? I have given him warmth and I have syringed fed him 12ml of water.

Don't know exactly where you are located but there is a good reptile vet at Warnbro Veterinary Hospital. Phone: 9593 1797 or 655 Safety Bay Road, Warnbro. Not sure what their policy is regarding charging for treatment of wild animals, but you could ring and ask?

thanks for all the help/advice guy's but unfortunitly he passed on about and hour ago :'(

I really thought he would have stood a chance at surviving :(

dont beat yaself up not all survive and theres nothing anyone would of been able to do if it was a broken neck, it would of adventually blead to death. the best thing you did was take him home and try give him a comfortable place to die. good on ya for having a heart.

did you quarentine it from the rest of your reptiles?

:O as i read your post ricksta about him passing away a really sad song came on my ipod (just thought id out it out there)

yeah internal injuries are hard to diagnose, i found an adult frilly on the side of the road 2 days ago and he had no external damage but he let me pick him up with minamal fuss, i took him back to the farm and put him into care while i finished work 3 hours later he was dead.

crush injury from cars sucks

donks

Well you tried to help so well done there are various organisations like wires or RSPCA or next time you find an injured animal maybe leave at a vet and exsplain that you found it on the road another dead animal because of humans one of the many millions dead everyday no doubt

Im so sorry :( But good for you for trying to help, a lot of people would have just ignored it and some of the "only good snake is a dead snake" type people would've probably run it over :( So good for you! :)
