Hi,
Recently I began feeding my yearling jungle in his terrarium as I didn't think it necessary to feed him in a tub anymore (Judging by the fact that many have said feeding their snakes in their tanks didn't make any difference to the snake's temperament).
Though I've noticed that he has become rather aggressive whenever anyone walks past his tank and he is almost always perched upon a vine in the 'S' shape, once I get him out he's completely placid (as he usually was). I'm quite sure he isn't hungry as he ate a full sized mouse yesterday.
My question is; is it possible that he's aggressive due to the fact that I've started feeding him in his terrarium, or?? (I've pondered about whether or not he can smell mouse on something in the tank...)

Many thanks.

1 mouse for a yearling?... Maybe try 2/3 as he may be hungry... Once they have had 1 item to eat then they become very food orientated

I also wonder about the amount/size of food? I will say, that my 3 year old Coastal rises up at any movement for a day or so after feeding(he is a bottomless pit though lol) I feed all of mine in their enclosures with out any issues. I dont touch mine for about 3-4 days after a feed, because I dont need to.... eerrr except for water changes etc

Sounds hungry to me.......and my yearlings would probably react the same way if they were being fed a mouse each feed.

Mine are on 55-65gram rats and quail (mouse usually equals 25-30 grams as a comparison)......but I guess it depends on the size of your yearling. Mine are just on 12-14 months old.

I would say more hungry then cage defensive. My 2 year old hasnt had a feed for 3 weeks and hes on 180g rats, been in shed for about a week so i didnt feed him the normal fortnightly feed. He is very snappy when not feed enough but hes ok when out of enclosure.
