Hi guys, there's something that's worrying me about my python.

The back of it's head has gone soft, like rotton fruit soft. It was fine a few days ago. I mean it's always been softer than the rest of it's head but not like this.

I am planning on taking it to a vet but I can only do that on friday, just wanting to know if it's something serious.

It's also developed some green stuff on the area where it's gone soft, that had happened in the last week or two. I don't know what it is, I think it might be some fungus or something.

Any ideas?

Blue is for where it went soft and the red circle is where the green stuff is.

It's very hard to see there but that's the best I could do with this camera, it's shockingly bad. If you can't see I'll take more photos and hope they are better.

EDIT: Played around with a few settings, turned on flash and got a much better photo

I can't believe thats the best you can do with the camera. If you're really worried, take it to a vet. Where abouts are you located?

I can't really see much with that photo. Is the green stuff wet or dry? how old is it?

Just put up a MUCH better photo, it's dry. It's about a week, almost 2 weeks old. It happened a few months ago but after it shed it didn't come back until now. I was planning on taking it to a vet next week as I am not busy next week but if it's an urgent thing I will take it ASAP.

And I'm located in the Sutherland Shire, apparently the closest specialist vet is Waterloo which is an hour away, but some local vets here can treat it if it's basic.

Still hard to see, if it was just the skin it would be a skin infection, not too bad but if its deep then your prob got a deep infection which can turn into an abscess which can get much worse if not treated and start to involve the bones. I can't tell without looking at it in person. If it feels deep then the sooner you get it treated the better.

Ok, I'll take it to the specialist vet on friday, sounds and looks like something that can't be treated by a local vet.

Thanks for your help.
