Hi guys and gals, my Daughter bought a couple of Pygmy Bearded Dragons (Pogona henrylawsoni) about 6 weeks old now and the female has started to go a yellowish tinge on either side of it's body, does not show on a picture but according to her it is visible to the naked eye, could someone please tell me is this caused by a lack of something or is it caused by stress or some other outside influence, it's current housing consists of a 2ft tank with basking light and platform at 1 end and a hide at the cool end, substrate is just absorbent paper and it is feeding on crickets and greens quite readily, temps are all ok ie 35 deg c under basking lamp 24 deg c at cool end. any ideas why the female is getting the yellowish colouring..............................Ron

hmm not too sure about the colouring mate. Sometimes dragons will change colour depending upon heating up etc. I would personally not worry too much at the moment as long as the dragons keep eating lots of food and are not bullying eachother. I would also upgrade the wattage or location of your basking lamp to get the basking spot temp to 40-45 degrees celcius. This is pretty important.
Also are you using a good source of UVB?? Another good thing is Vitamin and Calcium powder. Are you using any of this?

^^^+++ agreed, bump the basking temps up to at least 40-43C and supply UVB. Both my Pygmies have yellows and oranges in them both in their back patterns and down their flanks. As they get older the colours will unfortunatly fade

Thanks for the quick replies guys, i will advise her to bump up the basking spot temp, she is doing everything else ok ie calcium, vitamins and UVA/B, i told her not to worry about it as you guys are beardy specialists, she is happy now she was worried about her "babies"..........................Ron
