Rat Cost

Thanks guys. It does seem like they are cheaper in the larger sizes in the east but more expensive in the smaller sizes. I would of thought it to be reversed but...........

I get

Adult Rats 400 gm + $3.80
Juvies $2.80
Weaners $1.40
Fuzzy $0.72
Pinkie $0.48

paying $6.50 for medium rat at Living jungle, cause they are close by

You are probably around the corner from Brian at the Herp Shop.

The Herp Shop's maximum price for rats is $4 each and mice $0.60 each.

The Herp Shop has never put its frozen rodents on the web site as they sell without needing to be promoted.

I buy my rodents from the Reptile Barn and i think they are a rip off. I spend $400 each visit for an esky full. I used to breed them but got sick of that. I need tonnes of rats but cant afford it. I remember the days when you could walk into a pet shop and buy a mouse for 50c. Now they want $2.50 for one. It all adds up unfortunately.

farmdog, if you have a little room in your freezer, goto animalattraction.com.au, matt can probably organise to send you 10 or 20 kilos to your nearest airport fairly cheap and snap frozen....

I would do that but mum will crack it one that would be too much I mean how long can you keep them frozen before the go bad

I think you can keep em frozen for 8 to 12 months farmdog. Ask some of the other folks in this site. They might be able to give you more of an idea. Pink mice and rats would probably keep for a shorter time, due to being hairless and would get freezer burn I think. We now put the date on all our snaplock bags, so people know when they are gassed and put in the freezer. Cheers Cheryl

yeah but as a apprentice carpenter I need every dollar I get paid to survive and 2 purchase more snakes so I need to find somewhere to get cheap food

Yeah mate can understand that. My man just completed an Adult Apprenticeship in Butchery, 12 months ago. I guess he probably got more than you in wages as an Adult Apprentice, but it was not full Adult wages eh? Or fully qualified wages?

I just got 80 rats delivered via air frieght direct to bathurst airport, same day delivery from Matt Stockdale (Stockeh) at animalattraction, works out about $4.70 for 150-200g delivered not bad ! top bloke I might add.

Living Jungle also sell pinkie mice 6 for $10. Herp Shop sells them at 60c each and are in Ardeer. That is an example..
