Poor thing. Good luck with him. No matter what happens, good on you for picking him up. I guess they aren't always bullet proof are they :(

Thanks guys,

Here's an x ray from the vet. Sub cut saline will be on going for the time being, but we're really considering whether he's "viable". The disorientation is probably from loss of hearing on the left (perhaps this is the case with your little guy, Kathy?), so no apparent brain injury. Not much damage considering he was hit by a car travelling at 60K! Big, tough bugger!

Reptiles are remarkably tough, glad to hear he's doing well mate.
Good on you for looking after him.

Well IV, I would see this as good news, promising, albeit a small amount, but promising nonetheless... He may just end up being an "Extra Special Person" in your care (which he is anyway!), requiring a little extra TLC... Whichever the outcome, I applaud you, once again, on your taking him on - you are as special as your charge! :)

Thank you for the update, will be looking forward for further updates, as they arise!

All the best,
Carolyn

Thanks for the kind words, Carolyn (I'm a bit embarrassed), but there's lots of us out there, thankfully:)! I figure that , by posting, others, who will undoubtadly find more road victims, may find my experience useful in some way, as I've done with others.

In the end, though, it's really all about the animals.

An update for those following the thread.

I've been in contact with a herp specialist vet and more x-rays, head shots have been called for. Here's a few. 120 mil of sub-cut saline has been given at each visit and he appears to be on the improve. Both eyes open, though the left eye remains slightly cloudy, the tongue's now being utilised in a more normal manner and I even got an aggressive gape today, which seems very promising (at least he's able to use his jaws). Still disoriented, but, then again, a ton of panel van in your ear will do that to you. I think my vet's in love:)!
