I recently purchased some resin water bowls and after water has been in it for more than a day it's turning the outer layer soft and discoloured and leaving a layer of toxin on top of the water. I'm obviously taking them back as I don't want my pythons drinking from them. Has anyone had any issues like this and if not what type of bowls do you use?

I found with those dark brown bowls, that the brown peels off, so you're left with a white bowl. I can't say it's effected the waterproofing at all. But personally, I prefer ceramic or heavy plastic dog bowls for my snakes, and for the bigger guys like my 2.4m carpets, they get appropriate sized plastic tubs from Big W or Bunnings so that they can still hop in and soak and the sides are high enough so water doesn't spill out.

I use a round ceramic baking dish. I was going to get a 'proper' reptile one (resin, rock style) but decided against it, as the inside of the ceramic dish is white, so I can easily see mites if they are ever present.

My partner has a Pyrex glass baking dish. Being clear is looks good in the enclosure.
