hey i hav a very bitey spotted chilrens pyhton.. as far as i no she is 5 to 6 years, n really has never been handled to much jus thrown a rat weekly. i thought if i gave her some time she would get used to my scent n not try to bite me but she hasnt. every time we walk past or open the lid she goes straight into defence mode n stands up ready to strike n she is very unpredictable. has anyone had same thing happen or anyone hav some ways to get her to be less agressive

One of my spotteds doenst like being handles, because the guy who had her b4 me didnt get her out at all. She has never bitten me just wriggles around heaps when i hold her but slowly over the last 6 months i have tamed her down heaps but every now and then she will wriggle heaps. Either way it will take time to calm your childrens down, mabey feed her up (dont overfeed of course) and then try to handle her when she is a bit fatter?

I had a jungle that was like that same thing ,previouse owner did'nt handle her at all i just got it out every second day an didnt really try to handle it just let it sit on my lap an eventuly she came round im no exbert though i thnk its just a case of them knowing that your presence is nothing to worry bout.Good luck!!

thanks heaps, i though that would hav been the case. i hav looked at another couple of discussions n they hav also shed some light on the subject. thanks again

thanks mate, she is really agro. i tryed to get her out the other day with a glove on n she had a bit of a sniff then bit n wrapped herself straight around my arm, i hav a bredli n a bhp n they both r so chilled out n had a jungle that was a bit jumpy but she is just so unprdictable. im keen to tame her i hav fed her n now ill let her settle for a few days n try again. thanks for ur input

try not to wear gloves, the glove harms them in some way i think they rip teeth out in it or something. Use a hook instead:D

try using a hook to get her out. I have 3 spotted pythons only one was very snappy and would strike at my hand each time but I never gave up and took him out 3 or 4 times a week till he calmed down, now he just lays in my hands. Just take your time with her and she will come around.
Check out my pics on my profile to see how tame they get.

OK! old trick taught to me many many years ago! Bitey snake! Every evening take snake out or enclosure, with hook, put snake in cloth bag, (pillow case!), Tie up neck of bag, place bag with snake in on your lap for an hour or two, whilst you watch TV, play on computer etc! Put snake back in enclousure!!
WARNING!!!!!!! I VERY STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST TRYING THIS WITH VENOMOUS SPECIES!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my spotteds is a bit like that. So every few days i put her in a cotton bag and give her a gentle massage thought the bag- so she gets to it
