Should I be worried???

I just got a new darwin carpet hatchling on the weekend and I've noticed that he keeps climbing up onto the mesh cover that guards his daylamp, while it's on. When I take him off it he feels really hot.

Should I be worried or is it perfectly normal...?

All snakes try to curl up around a heat source, its perfectly normal. And its so warm because its absorbed the heat. What temp is you're themostat on?
