my diamond has had a clutch of eggs( was unaware she was gravid, so found them afterr she had laid them in a clutch) upon finding them she had discarded 8 slugs from her coils and she was incubating the rest,(decicded to let her incubate them maternaly as she is a big healthy snake) after a few days we noticed some more slugs but unlike the first ones she discarded these were grey (the first were yellow am thinkin g they were under delveloped eggs) Does anyone know if i should remove these slugs ffrom the clutch?? i can see 2 of them and am worried that as they decompose they will comprimise the clutch, i have heard though that diamond eggs are very resiliant, but i want to be sure. cause if i have to i will pull her off and remove them, or take her off them altogether and incubate them myself. the eggs are 1 week old. do i leave them or do i remove them??

Either leave them be and possibly risk the clutch.
Remove mum and the slugs and hopes she continues to incubate them herself afterwards. Might be an idea to setup an incubator incase she doesn't.
Or remove the clutch and artificiall incubate

Those are the three options i would be weighing up

Take her off the clutch, remove the slugs and put the good eggs in an incubator. This will give you the best result on the eggs, give the mum a small feed and clean her enclosure.
Cheers

Just leave the slugs with the clutch. They normally have no effect on surrounding eggs. Even good eggs that die and rot have little effect on the other eggs. If you try and remove them you could unsettle the female who then may abandon them. If you remove the eggs and place in a incubator you could easily loose the lot as there is little chance you will fluke the same temp she had them at. Changing temps through the incubation term can be dissasterous to say the least

Eggs are pretty hardy they are designed to hatch, you would be surprised at what they can handle. On a healthy egg i have never found mould to be a problem although i always try to minimise mould i have seen it kill an egg.

But really ur 26 type and spell like an adult for gods sake, it make a post oh so much easier to read.

thanks heaps....adam have done this. She was still shivering a bit last night but has stopped now... wanted to let her incubate as I have another cluch that's incubating and she is a big diamond and I thought it would be a great learning curb, but when they started to smell I thought I should try and get a good look at them and when did so I noticed only the top 3-4 were good and did not want her to sit on them and loose condition for so few eggs........ Plus the smell was just unbearable as they are in my lounge room...lol.... I cut the slugs from the rest and wiped the good ones down with a damp cloth ????? Should I be to worried about mould as there's a few spots on them. I have read so much conflicting info, I'm just not confident with anything i do anymore????....thanks again for taking the time to reply ps...just 1 more thing !!sorry!! when cutting slugs out it took about 5-10 mins to get done and get them into the incubator. Do you think that it has ruined them as i can not find any info on this? thanks again .........jie.......:)
