snake enclosure help?

i bought a snake enclosure today.
a glass tank, not sure of the measurements off the top of my head.
it has two sliding glass parts at the front.
and a bunch of little pieces that make up the lock.
but i don't know how to attach the lock to the glass.
i've played around a little, but i'm clueless.

there's a long thin piece of metal, with a rectangular bend at one end, and a small hole at the other.
a small screw that fits into the hole.
a metal lock that slides onto the piece of metal.
and of course, a key.

i've included photos.
if anyone has any idea how to get this lock on, please tell me!
