Hi,

I have a BHP that has one of his spectacles with a small dint in the middle (right where the pupil would be I'd imagine). It is only small. The other eye is fine and perfectly round. I'd post a photo but I think it will be difficult to capture it clearly.

Anyway - wondering if this is an issue or not? He does dig around a bit and I'm assuming it occured while digging or after eating he'll rub each side of his head across the floor. Not sure how long it has been there... will it likely correct itself with subsequent sheds?

Thanks

I had the same problem with my spotted python, when she was younger...I just kept an eye on her, made sure it didnt get worse, no infection etc....With a few sheds it went away.

After saying it would be too hard to photo I had a go. It turned out really well to my surprise.

Thanks Bugsy - hopefully this works out the same way with a few sheds too.

My spotted had the same thing when she was younger, disappeared with each shed, then would re appear etc..doesnt happen anymore though..at the time i searched for a few threads on here, and it appears that its normal! shouldn't be any cause for concern imo..

Just found some details on the web about dints/dents and cracks being related to a lack of moisture. Not sure if that is true. I always keep a dry enclosure except for a good sized water bowl obivously.

Does anyone think this is caused by lack of moisture vs being physically pushed in ?

my set up has not changed, if anything i have put in a smaller water bowl..Having said that, i dont know for sure. maybe wait till sheds to see if it is a moisture issue??

ok cool. I think I am not going to add any moisture and will just see if sheds help, especially during this time of the year. Cheers.

Well, turns out I didn't have to wait very long... checked him again today (one day later) and the spectacle is perfectly round again. It seems it is related to hydration. Yesterday I did see him have a sizable drink. Weird... I wasn't expecting this... From the photo it doesn't seem that there is any issues with the spectacle at all.
