Hi my spotted has had hers and my first clutch of eggs, i have been away for a week on holidays and figured mating was unsuccessful as she appeared to not look to much bigger. tonight to my surprise however i found her cuddling 9 eggs inside her hide. which unfortunately is on recycled kitty litter which i house all my snakes on.

i have an auto incubator which controls temp and humidity. temp i set on 30.5 c and humidity only goes to 80% highest.

i did use a torch to look into the eggs before incubating and all 9 have visible veins.

my problem is that the eggs look dried and dimpled and hard. will they be to far gone to survive and should i continue to let them have a go in the incubator.

any help would be a relief

Put them in the incubator....what have you got to lose???

They will either hatch or not...never give up on an egg.

ok thanks i will leave them in there. also are they meant to be softer when you pick them up or harder like a chicken egg

They are softer when freshly laid, but harden up a bit. They are never as hard as a chicken egg and they do dimple or cave in to various extents. As long as you have veins, something correct is happening, so keep going!

Never discard any egg that has discolouration or is growing fungi or bacteria, until the egg starts to smell - that indicates the egg has died and should be removed. The egg has it's own immune system that combat infection and can look quite sick whilst it is still a live and protecting the developing embryo.
