I have learnt, after my last incident of not believing someone about Coastal Taipans, that it is safer to be disappointed then to call someones bluff...and I'm glad I didn't call your bluff Greg, because those two are definitely Coastal Taipans. I don't think I've ever been so stoked to see a photo of a snake then I am right now. Good work!

just done a scale count and the taipan in your picture has seven scales surrounding the eye
or is it just a cracked scale?, the scale looks like its divided . If you have a look at all the coastals they have 6 scales surround the eye, its probably just a cracked scale, be great if it was a new species
cheers steve

GREG thats fantastic! and you have proven the theory of "Just cause its says they are not there ,doesnt mean their not".............glad you didnt get any side effects from that bite as you looked like you would have been in a spot of trouble being where you were if you had .

Red Belly Bite,

There are records from both places Greg found those Taipans, so nobody was saying they didn't occur that...it's just that for every 1000 non-herp people that thinks they've seen a Taipan, only 1 or 2 actually have.
