a handy site that explains some of the basics of evolution is
Where was this earlier?

Snake Wrangler seems to think he has the answers about evolution lushvl, that might be a good one for him to answer.
Hahaha, I have no desire to carry on your delusions.

the reason they say cockies can survive, is because during the very first testing of them the blast sites were still found to contain them, and nothing else...

Now the blasts are significantly bigger, i seriously doubt they would survive...

but you never can tell, My kingdom for a removable Exo-skeleton.

5. What do genes have to do with evolution?

Genes are the portions of an organism's DNA that carry the code responsible for building that organism in a very specific way. Genes -- and, thus, the traits they code for -- are passed from parent to offspring. From generation to generation, well-understood molecular mechanisms reshuffle, duplicate, and alter genes in a way that produces genetic variation. This variation is the raw material for evolution.
Ok, I checked out that link and came across this, however this poses a question that I would like someone to give a credible answer for.

Where did the first set of genes come from?? or Better still, where did the first organism come from??

10. How do organisms evolve?

Individual organisms don't evolve. Populations evolve. Because individuals in a population vary, some in the population are better able to survive and reproduce given a particular set of environmental conditions. These individuals generally survive and produce more offspring, thus passing their advantageous traits on to the next generation. Over time, the population changes.
Here is another confusing thing, Individuals do not change only populations change, but isn't a population a group of individuals, so if none of the individuals change, how can the population??

Genes Mutate to suit the enviromental conditions and survival requirements of the species as a whole. technically speaking individuals change but over generations not overnight. As far as I understand it anyway :?

11. Does evolution prove there is no God?

No. Many people, from evolutionary biologists to important religious figures like Pope John Paul II, contend that the time-tested theory of evolution does not refute the presence of God. They acknowledge that evolution is the description of a process that governs the development of life on Earth. Like other scientific theories, including Copernican theory, atomic theory, and the germ theory of disease, evolution deals only with objects, events, and processes in the material world. Science has nothing to say one way or the other about the existence of God or about people's spiritual beliefs.
I hope none of you guys want to use evolution as a means to prove there is no God??

Not touchin it Snakewrangler, its hot and I saw it coming ! :p

When I first read it, it seemed to be contradictory, however after reading it again I see there was no contradiction, which doesn't mean I believe what is said, just that there isn't a contradiction there.

its stange how poeple say that cockroaches can survive a nucular bomb or whatever, but they cant survive if you spray them with raid or mortein, hard to imagine huh

Prove there is a god SW.

Personally I prefer too believe I am related too an ape, rather than believe that some dickhead snapped his fingers and made life in 7 days.

Where did god come from?

Nowhere! There is no god (IMO)

To believe that there was some matter just floating around in space or whatever which gave rise to life, which had always been there, takes the same amount of faith as it does to believe that God is there and always has been.

My goal is not to get people to believe what I believe, but rather to see that to believe in evolution takes just as much faith as it does to believe in God. Going around with the belief that your beliefs are anymore valid or certain is silly because we both rely on something, that cannot be explained or proven, to base our beliefs.

Yours is lifeless matter, mine is a living God.

Unless you can somehow show that the matter that created life just appeared without any kind of source. And you cannot say that evolutionists are not concerned with how life started, because if you cannot explain the basis of life, then how can any other theory or idea stand that is the result of it. It simply cannot.

One of the current theories is the big bang.

I guess evolution requires some faith too, but the evidence is all around us. I work for researchers looking at cane toads, and we are already seeing snakes EVOLVE in front of our eyes.

Seeing is believing

But big bangs don't happen for no reason, there had to be something to cause it, I in fact do believe there would have been a "big bang" when the universe was created, in my belief it happened when God called the universe into existence.

I see the evidence for God all around, the fact that there are so many similarities between all life is because it was created by the same mind, just as a painting can be attributed to an artist by only seeing the painting. Just as you see the similarities as "proof" of evolution, I see them as "proof" of God, again our beliefs influence how we see things, so we are both automatically biased.

And if your being honest, what snakes have you seen evolving? If you are refering to integrades then they have always been there from our perspective, we don't really know (and some don't believe) that they are from an interbreeding of two different species or sub-species.

Yes, seeing is believing, but what have you really seen?? You cannot have seen anything beyond your own age, so have you really, personally seen these things happen, again it takes faith in what others claim to have seen and done, my whole belief is based upon what other people claim to have seen and done.

I am happy that you are able to admit that there is faith required for someone to believe in evolution. It is only logical and to deny it would be foolish. From where I sit our belief system is identical, only the details of each belief is different.
