Hi guys/girls,
I have two jungles about five months old. Female takes either rats or mice but the male refuses rats every time. Don't want a 6 foot snake that takes multiple mice every feed so trying to convince him to take rats.
I can trick him into striking at fuzzie or pinky rats by scenting (with mice) or switching but he seems to work it out and come off them before he eats it.
Have read all the posts about braining and those methods but still he won't switch to rats. Takes mice every time with no problems.
Any advice or other tricks to try would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Yeh thanks.........figured as much. Glad the female is like a disposal unit so nothing ever goes to waste.

try a small mouse and while hes in a feeding mode and allmost finished eating the mouse try holding a small weaner rat against the mouse so he just continues on to eating the rat. could also try holding a couple of feeds back so he's really hungry and just offer a rat

Thanks funcouple will try the nose to tail thing next feed. I am guessing once he takes one the flood gates will open.

i always keep fresh mice shavings and put the rat and shavings in a clip lock bag shake and bake sented rat do that 5 times and will take the rat done it to heaps of jungles cheers

cheers gozz - that sounds promising!
