Hi all,

I have an adult blue tongue here in melbourne so no licence required. We are moving to cairns in Jan and was wondering what i need to do to get him up there with us! Do i need a licence in QLD or apply for importing? do flights take reptiles on board or do i have to freight him up? Im pretty clueless as to the whole interstate procedures so any help is appreciated

How are you getting there yourself. As I have heard of people taking their reptiles in the car with them. As it is summer, heating shouldn't be to much of a problem, but you could also just lay him/her on your lap as that would be enough heat.

Someone may correct me on this though.

yeah we where originally going to drive however we are now flying up so that removes that option! oh well will keep investigating.

Give Australian Air Express a call, they freight reptiles so they should be able to help you sort it out.

What about freight? what should he be in for aae to ship him up there?

the heat inside a car can cook reptiles....

can he fly up with you? i'm pretty clueless to the whole freight thing aswell.

When you do send it up to Cairns, make sure you put on the container: Live reptile, Keep out of sun all over it. I've herd of a few stories of people getting cooked herps, coz the freight people think that reps love being in the sun and dont put them in shade.Being summer and in QLD, a good hot day could cook ya herp in half hour.
Good Luck..
