Trading Feedback perhaps?

thats a good idea. maybe this could be included in your profile? a 5 star rating type thing. however whats stoping some one who hasn't baught anything from some one giving a person a terrible review?

its an interesting idea though.

personally i think we should be told who it was so we can avoid dealing with them.

Trading Feedback would be a great idea. I already have a few ppl whom I will never deal with again and would certainly like to avoid any other scrupulous ppl out there as well. Fortunately I have had a lot more pleasant dealings than bad ones.

Trading Feedback perhaps?

That could be a good thing although judging by one of the other threads today you can only imagine how it might turn out.

That is why it is moderated by such a level headed group of people my friend :)

Mites suck big time and are as bad as bloody dirty rotten cane toads...even though i've quarantined and only let a couple of new animals straight into my collection as i knew they were mite and problem free and had taken pics in the day and would definitely have noticed them so i got them from a visitor i suspect. From now on VERY FEW will be going in my snake room and everything that comes in is treated as though it has mites.

I haven't had them in 4 years and now right in breeding season i cop these suckers....

And man would i be peed right off if i knew i'd got animals from anyone who knew they had mites without letting me know as they wouldn't get sold and things like this should be treated by people selling reptiles as it causes such a MASSIVE TASK whenyou get the things and have quite a few animals and TOD isn't cheap and doesn't go far at all i wish they still made the old orange medic...I HATE BLOODY MITES i'm itching right now arrgggghhhh

I feel for you Browns, I had a big outbreak of the !%$%$#@ about a year or so ago and it was a $#^#&^%$^&*%#$# of a job to get rid of them! Oh yes, I feel for you buddy, good luck with their extermination!

Luckily there was only one cage that bad the rest had a few and some i noticed none but all treated, used 7 cans of TOD aleady, bleach and o/medic plus sprayed and scrubbed every nook and cranny,i have all natural hides almost which are bleached tc also ncooking in the sun and will be lacquered....i'm glad i contained the bad outbreak to mainly one enclosure and strangely enough the one above had not a speck after spraying....very strange but lucky too now just a couple more sprays and bye bye W$&&$*a8....

Can anyone tell me of any experiences with geckos and mites as mine don't have any and haven't heard it before?

Bloody good point mate, I have never heard of geckos with mites, geckodan would be a good person to ask this of. Great that not all your cages were affected! Do you think that location has anything to do with the prevalence of mites?

Geckos get mites, you always see the orange ones on leaftails and such.

Location as in where the cages are etc?I don't think so it always starts from one affected animal and if i left it any longer i'm sure all cages would've been the same and i thought it was stange to see a male jungle in the water bowl and he was paired to a female which was the worst hit cage so i'd say just the stage of developement the mites were at and would've laid millions of eggs.

I also used pest strip in the empty display enclosure which is 2 in one and also the bottom one was affected but the one on top had none which a friend of mine saw and thought strange also...

I had been told to treat the snake with tod and spray the enclosures with mortein but that sounded way too risky to me compared to pest strips and only small bits in empty cages. Also i've used film containers or light globe boxes with tiny holes to put in with snake and all "no water" which is something a friend has done for years and works well as long as you're careful and i DON'T suggest this to anyone new to the hobby or anyone at all who doesn't already know this without knowing the risks!!!

I have as much info on mites here as you can imagine and i'll read it through eventually but some interesting stuff!!!

Shyte!!!!So i'm guessing i'll have to treat them too,i'm woried about them being young and the TOD residue..would it stay in the tanks and affect woodies etc?

Browns,- Get your bum up here asap, I stock piled orange medic when I new it was going out of production. Ill give you some.It is the best thing to use if used correctly, one aplication kills mite and eggs period. Ive NEVER had a prob with it and have used it on pythons, copperheads, adders, tigers etc all juvs with no ill effects.
Everything that arrives regardless of who and where the animals came from gets treated the moment they arrive, this should be standard procedure, period. I cant even remember the last time I had mite it was that long ago.

I've bought animals with mites before over a year ago, as they were shingleback housed outside. I found TOD not overlly good, as the mites were burried deep in the stumpies scales. I quarantined for 3 months and used predator mites from SA biological services. You give em 2 weeks and they eat all the reptile mites. You get about 5000 for $40 and they die off when there are no reptile mites to eat anymore. If I ever had an infestation, I would not hesitate to use them again, but in my situation, I keep a lot of arachnids so we have to be very careful with TOD.

As for the offending person, i thought something was up with the no photo thing. I hope all other buyers are aware that their reptiles now have mites. It's really bad for a new person getting into it if they buy it that way and they don't know or aren't aware of what to look for with mites and they can get out of control before they know it.

Trading feedback is good that way, flushes out bad keepers and rip offs that we can all protect ourselves and our animals from. I worry about selling to these people as much as buying from them.

Zard, there is a way to block your number from showing up on caller ID. You just gotta type in this number before you dial, if you ring telstra, they would be able to tell you.

Those predator mites sound good. Do lizards tend to get mites often?
