I've got a couple of microclimate thermostats, a B1 and a B1ME/HT, running heat cords routed into wood with a tile on top. All have been going well until recently when the B1 stopped working. My understanding is that if the thermostat gives out the heat source will go full heat... That wasn't what happened with me, it's gone cold. I feel fairly confident it's the thermo as when I run the heat cord straight from the PowerPoint it heats up, but not the thermostat. I wasn't too worried as its on the top enclosure and there was enough radiant heat coming up from the one below to get by until I go to Adelaide next to replace the faulty unit. But now the second one has done the same thing! Both thermostats light up the "heat" light but there's no heat. Has anyone had a similar experience?

update: just as I wrote this I tried plugging my enclosure LED lights into the thermostats and the lights flickered, kind of pulsed at a regular timing, which I think is how the thermostats work. Now I'm really confused.

B1's and B1ME's are dimming thermostats so no, thats not how they work, you are think of pulse proportional thermostats.
Your problem will be the fuze inside your thermostat. Don't worry at all about taking in the faulty unit, having them send it off and not getting it back for 3 months - just open up your unit and take out the fuze, then go to Jaycar or Dick Smiths and get a whole mess of them(they cost about 40c each) and replace it yourself.
I've used Microclimates for years and this is the ONLY thing that ever goes wrong with them. happens to me about every 18-24 months...
