Just a few questions to the thick tail keepers around...
I just got a female thick tail for my boy & although there is a fairly big size difference was informed that they would be fine together

I put them into the same tub & within a minute or less the male had grabbed hold of the females tail & it looked to me like he was going to attempt to eat her
Is there any reason why this might have happened?
I am presuming seperate tubs until she's upto size is the only option....

Cheers

The male is probably trying to get a good hold on her to breed. My levis does that to my female levis before. They are trying to breed most likely.

Cheers, Jake

The only thing is the female is tiny (half the males size) & slightly dehydrated....
Not sure whats the go there,
I know with other dragons there is an aggressive nature to mating
But I really am under the impression that he wasn't too happy to see her
When I do re-introduce them should it be in a neutral enclosure perhaps?

He made her squeal like a bitch, poor thing :(

Yes, that is natural behaviour from the male during breeding season. I wouldnt keep them together as the male is way bigger then the female.. He will take advantage and breed most likely.
I would keep them seperated

Cheers, Jake

Thats normal... /he is just trying to mate...
Personally i would keep them seperate til next season to get some size and condition on her by the sounds of things!

Their mating rituals are very aggressive and i think all keepers crap themselves when they first witness it!!

When mine were mating i could hear the females sqealing from 3 rooms away!

LOL yer he's a bit too eager me thinks
I let him see her again last night just quickly &
he started behaving ;)
Licking her all over & wagging his tail n stuff lol

Not sure whats the go there,
I've never kept thick tails but some other species like to lick thier water as dew...try spraying one wall with water and see if that helps
