Hi, My Coastal is 19 months old and has a slow moving bowel.

What leads me to beleive this is he has 4 feeds the size of his mid section, before he defacates.
When examining the stool the urate is dry as chalk, yes you could use it on a black board.

When i first got him at 6 months old he had a tummy bug which was cured with Flagyl.
Since then his bowel movement has been a bit slow, but he is a once a week no problem feeder.
Has fresh water always. I have tried warm baths and a slither through the grass.

Is there a supplement that i can inject in his food? Or will alternating food between Rats and Chickens help his system.

Other wise he's perfectly happy. I just feel sorry for him having to urate, as its the first thing he has to squeeze out. Its only the Urate thats constipated.
Experienced advise please.

can someone correct me if im wrong but arnt urates meant to be chalky and sorta dry? they are most of the time when i find them, but fresh ones are usually softer

yeah urates are meant to be white and like chalk, its the brown part that is the actual faecal part. if he is acting normal and eating weekly and still passing faeces then i doubt you have anything to worry about. he is most probably absorbing more then you think and putting it into growth. leaving less to be passed. when you have a small intestine with this much villi the surface area is amazing and absorption would be very good

and also a stomach with so many folds.

Thankyou, If it is normal that the Urate is dry and chalky, then that puts my mind at rest.

Sorry for being a little off topic, ive noticed my coastal is taking around 2 weeks or more to take a dump, when my others are doing them more regularly. But yesterday when i cleaned it up, i noticed that there was a section of it that was sort of crunchy, is this normal or should i be worried?
