Get a clear peice of tubing from bunnings.........much easier than head restrains.
Ive always used thumb grips on snakes over 2 ft, and 2 finger grips on thin snakes spp or snakes under 2 feet with no probs.

Also never ever ever let the snake wrap around your arm when in a head restraint...I once let a 4 ft inland taipan wrap around, while i was applying some medication to a missing scale on its nose, And it pulled free......I must, say there is nothing worse than having an unrestrained , unfriendly taipan wrapped around your arm .

didnt you get bitten by a death adder demonstrating a head restraint at one of your courses?

No, I was bitten by a Death Adder demonstrating why they are so difficult to head restrain compared to most other species of Australian venomous snakes. It was the result of poor communication between myself and the person assisting me. If you click on the "Search" icon (fifth from the right on the bar at the top of the page), you will be able to find at least two seperate threads where the bite has been explained.

Taipans are renowned for piercing their fangs through their lower jaw.

Check out the under the lower jaw on most adult rbbs, often you should be able to see to obvious spots, sometimes holes that correspond to the fangs.
